Guest Groups: Bathroom Remodel Things Worth the Plunge

A bathroom renovation may be one of the most stressful jobs to undertake. It is messy, uncomfortable and generally expensive. I’m about to take the plunge (no pun intended), so I have been trawling the Internet for inspiration. The array of products — and costs — out there’s really quite bewildering. There are so many possible directions to consider: tidy and minimal, glamorous and sparkly, warm and organic. How’s a girl to choose? — Lucy from Four Walls and a Roof

Restoration Hardware

Hudson Metal Extra-Wide Single Washstand – $2,795

The vanity is often the starting point. You can set the aesthetic with a standout dressing table, and then put it with more basic pieces. This marble dressing table is a showstopper. It is pricey but would be the defining moment in a bathroom.

Modern Bathroom

Apollo Marble Vanity Sink, Dove Gray – $699.95

An alternative is that this marble sink that rests on the counter top. It is a good deal less expensive, but you’d want to factor in the price of the countertop too.

Modern Bathroom

MTI Petra Double Lavatory Sink – $744.99

I’ll probably opt for a ceramic sink. This one shares the angular shape of the marble versions but is considerably more affordable. I enjoy the notion of a sink at a family bathroom. I don’t have space for two sinks, but this way both kids can brush their teeth once.

Overstock.com

Stylo Eleganza Sink – $73.99

I have had success locating well-priced sinks on Overstock. This oval option would work well in a master bathroom.

Freestanding Oval Composite Bathtub

This is my idea of a dream bathtub. It is a great classic. Unfortunately it also comes with a price tag to match.

Overstock.com

Wyndham Collection UVA Free Standing Soaking Bathtub – $1,397

This tub is a tenth of the cost but has a similar appearance. It would look really luxurious against a wall of iridescent mosaic tiles or heavily veined marble.

Overstock.com

Aquatica Purescape Acrylic Freestanding Acrylic Bathtub – $2,470

Although this is a freestanding bathroom, it would function well for much more of a built in appearance. Or you may attain the same appearance with an undermount bathtub and a snowy Caeserstone surround.

Matki

Wet Room Corner Walk-In With Side Panel

It was that you simply place shower rooms in spaces too tiny to get a tub. But with the prevalence of luxury showers and moist rooms, that’s no longer the case. My master bathroom is going to be a shower area. I’d love to use an all-glass shower screen like this.

Duravit

The wet room seem also requires minimal transition between floor and shower tray. You may opt for a tiled shower floor with a small ledge, or you could pick one of the newest extremely low-profile trays that are angled slightly to allow draining.

CafePress

Chevron Pattern Taupe Shower Curtain – $59.50

If your shower is over the tub, you are going to need a screen or curtain. A screen is much more clean lined, but a curtain allows you to inject more colour and pattern. Additionally, it’s more practical when bathing kids. These shower curtains can be printed in just about any design. I’d select a neutral design similar to this taupe chevron …

CafePress

Koi Fish Shower Curtain – $59.50

… or you could go wild with a Japanese print of koi fish. The options are endless, so if you want pink mustaches, animation zebras or a photograph from the movie Jaws, you should be able to discover your perfect shower curtain.

Contemporary Bathroom Tile

Tiles are one of the most important elements of a bathroom. It’s possible to make very basic fixtures look great with the ideal tiles. I adore these linen-effect tiles. The white ones are great, but this light greige would seem so stylish on a floor or characteristic wall.

Fired Earth

Iridescent Glass Mosaic Tile – GBP 38.28

Glass mosaic tiles are always common. I like the organic feel and variation of colour in these. They’re pricey but perfect in small doses for a glamorous bathroom.

Waterworks

Spence Wall Mounted Single Arm Sconce With Fabric Half Colour

Even if you opt for an extremely minimal bathroom, you may still dress it up with lighting. These sconces are a classic design that won’t ever go out of style though the brass finish is extremely on trend.

Rejuvenation

Atomic Age Single Wall Bracket – $245

For a more contemporary appearance, I enjoy such Atomic sconces. They are available in 12 distinct finishes, including brushed brass.

ABC Carpet & Home

Canopy Designs Parisian Sconce – $703

For a really spectacular effect, just about chandelier sconces? All these are a bit out of the budget, but they would definitely add some luxury to a bathroom.

Assembly Design

Roll With It

If you’re into the Japanese trend, this bathroom tissue holder is just the ticket. It comes with a walnut peg to complete the midcentury vibe.

Wisteria

Chinese Garden Stool | Wisteria – $129

Every bathroom needs a couple of dramatic accents. A stool is beneficial for keeping towels, additional additives or other accoutrements handy. These Chinese garden stools are a cost-effective option. I’m tempted by the golden one for the master bath.

Waterworks

Chatham Bath Accessories

This ceramic bathroom accessory set is pretty enough to use as serveware! I adore trays and the bowls. They’re perfect for jewellery and perfumes.

Rejuvenation

Cut-Glass Watchmaker’s Jar – $18

To bring the final glamorous touch, I’d pick some vintage-looking glass jars like this one. Perhaps it is only going to hold Walgreens cotton balls, but it is going to still feel like a little bit of Hollywood in my everyday routine!
